Interstitial lung disease in antisynthetase syndrome without clinical myositis.

BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2014204296 DESCRIPTION Antisynthetase syndrome (ASS) is a lesser recognised idiopathic inflammatory myopathy with nearly 89% showing interstitial lung disease (ILD). However, in a small subpopulation without evidence of myositis, the diagnosis may be critically d...
متن کاملTacrolimus for antisynthetase syndrome with interstitial lung disease?
The methodology used in the two devices is different but this is unlikely to explain the differences reported in this study. Indeed, no difference was detected when samples of known NO concentrations ranging 5–100 ppb and ambient air were analysed with both devices (p50.18 by paired t-test). Therefore, differences in expiratory manoeuvres were considered. A micro-spirometer connected to the NIO...
متن کاملDevelopment of myasthenia gravis 8 years after interstitial lung disease associated with antisynthetase (anti‐EJ antibody) syndrome
Patients with antisynthetase-positive interstitial lung disease (ILD) alone sometimes develop myositis during follow-up, but myasthenia gravis (MG) overlapping on antisynthetase syndrome is unusual. A 56-year-old woman with ILD and anti-EJ antibody treated for 8 years developed MG. Physicians should consider myositis and MG when patients develop muscle symptoms during follow-up.
متن کاملCLINICAL YEAR IN REVIEW Interstitial lung disease
This article reviews the most important articles published in interstitial lung disease, as reviewed during the Clinical Year in Review session at the 2012 annual European Respiratory Society Congress in Vienna, Austria. Since the recent international guidelines for the management of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), important new evidence is available. The anti-fibrotic drug pirfenidone has...
متن کاملAnti-PL7 antisynthetase syndrome: A rare cause of autoimmune-mediated interstitial lung disease.
We present a case of anti-PL7 anti-synthetase syndrome (ASS), an autoimmune disease which should be considered in patients with interstitial lung disease or antibiotic resistant pneumonia when other more frequent diagnoses have been explored and ruled out, even in the absence of systemic autoimmune symptomatology. Our aim is to report a case of this rare syndrome and provide indications for pro...
